From the magazine onto the polishing belt — without compressed air

ODAN GmbH used IO-Link-controlled Cyltronic servo actuators for this assembly machine right from the design phase. The system specifically ejects flat components from a magazine onto the conveyor belt of a polishing machine.

The system uses two Cyltronic components. A CTL-060 linear axis with 1000 mm travel range is used for a vertically movable unit. It positions the magazines with millimetre precision. The CTC-060 Cyltronic electric cylinder is installed within this unit and carefully pushes the components out of the existing magazines — in two steps to prevent damage to the components. The ejection of various components is fully automated, the system replaces laborious manual work and reduces personnel costs.

“With compressed air cylinders, we would have had to invest significantly more in terms of design. We save on compressed air connections and the associated energy costs, can program the processes on the Cyltronic components within a few minutes and also receive path and force measurements for safety functions,”

says Odin Peter, CEO of ODAN GmbH. He is convinced:

“Manufacturing costs and running costs are lower with Cyltronic than with compressed air cylinders and other axles. We save costs during assembly and commissioning and will be able to easily adapt machine functions in the future.”

A is used CTC-060 electric cylinder With a stroke of 100 mm and a CTL 060 linear axis With a stroke of 1000 millimeters — a convincing solution for a wide range of other applications. Position control is carried out via IO-Link with a Siemens PLC. It also adopts the values of effective forces for further safety functions.
